I think it's simpler than that.

Imo the ball is scaled to the much larger player models seen in EA's initial next-gen football offerings. They have since scaled down the players to be far less superhero-esque, but as was pointed out earlier in this thread the size of the ball can't be reduced without breaking the ball handling animations.

They kind of have to pick their poison right now. They either have a huge ball, or a normal size ball that looks completely out of place. I doubt they'd have time right now to go back and re-work the animations so it looks correct. I personally don't think it's that big of a deal when playing the game, i only really notice it on replays or close ups... though i'm sure it might annoy the heck out of other people, which i totally understand.

The ball has been too big of years now. Though the NCAA football should be a little bigger than the NFL football.

the title of this thread is funny... but anyways, yea the ball is too big, but theyve said it would be a time consuming thing to switch so we just gotta deal with it because its a very minor thing compared to so many other glaring visual and gameplay issues.

Hate to keep beating a dead horse, but this is again something that is done better on the PS2 than the PS3/360 versions. Yes, the size of the ball is too big in NCAA/Madden.
