Re: NCAA Football 11 Blog: Quarterback

The two game killers for me both deal with the quarterback. # 1 the quarterback drops back way to fast which is very unrealistic. That's one of the reasons you never get sacks because even if you get a good rush the QB is 2 to 3 steps ahead of you. # 2 the logic of where and who the CPU throws to makes me just cut the game off. For example, it's 3rd and long and of coarse the CPU QB throws to a full back who ran a 2 yard pattern running to the sideline. Even more frustrating is that when you go back and watch the replay the QB had A slant or deep post freakin open for the first down.

Sorry for the mini rant

I think that the bad passing logic can be fixed. Now that they are starting to develop assignments for the AI to go by. I think that they should do this for all positions. QBs should have reads. They are on the right track. It takes a lot of work to program and tune this stuff.

Thats the very first thing that went through my mind after reading the blog. When I saw the title "Quarterback" I thought i was going to here some good news on the most important aspect of the game besides locomotion (IMO). But DE contain? Thats is a defensive blog for sure.

Im not all that impressed by the DE contain audible.

Im nuetering my pass rush.

All that is going to happen now is people are just going to scramble from side to side, and backwards, due to the past, non aggressive pitty pat pass rush animations.

I'd be much more impressed if pass rushers took realistic rush angles, played with some nastiness when AI controlled, and if the pocket breaks down on people who bail out on their protection.

IT sounds to me that all they have done here, is just give us a different DL audible, instead of having to on the fly adjust the DE's individually.

Good to see theg getting hit while throwing issues were addressed. Cant tell you how many user sacks Ive lost by the dang ability to throw out of the sack animation.

Why can't we get an audible that attacks the QB in the pocket, yet still plays contain. Maybe the defenders lose a touch of aggressiveness as they approach, but I think it'd be better than just having them standing around waiting.

I dont plan on playing online IF at all, so scrambling QBs will only be an issue or problem if the AI uses them effectively (which i am surely not sold on yet). Time will tell and there is still more time left.

This information goes more towards the Defense than anything...I am glad they are making adjustments to actual game play rather than a free-for-all...I guess the option will give us more to look forward to...I also like what they did with the throwing motion while sacked...I hated sacking a QB (or at least trying to) and they somehow make a perfect pass...but when the shoe was on the other foot I seem to always get sacked even if my throwing motion was complete..lets hope they fixed more than what they stated...

Whats next...can't wait...
