Uhhh..in-game saves???!

I always hear people talking about how they need in-game saves so they can play a half a game, then go out to dinner with the wife and kids or blah-blah-blah and I always thought, just play a whole game or don't...geesh. I never really understood why there was such a big deal about in-game saves. Until last night...

Last night I fired up my offline OSU dynasty. I am #2 in the country. I had to play Wisconsin. It was storming so I was unsure whether to play but I figured I’d take my chances. Well it’s a very, VERY intensely close game. Back and forth, I finally take the lead 17-13 with 1:30 left to go. Wisconsin drives the field, gets to my 20, I rush the Wisconsin QB and he panics, throws an INT to my safety. By now its storming and lightning very badly outside. I think..."wow, I wish I could save this game!! but yet..no in-game saves option..." and it's right then I realize how right everyone was about having the in-game save option...

At this point there is about 50 seconds to go. I run the ball a couple of times to run out the clock. Last play to go. I run the ball, clock is winding down….10…9…..8…..*power goes out*……

LMAO, I should have known that’d be my luck! The good news is I’m in the hunt for the Heisman with Pryor and he had a terrible game so now I can replay the game without feeling guilty about restarting it. Although who knows, maybe he’ll have another bad game. Also, it could have been even worse I guess, if I’d been saving it when the power went out and my season got corrupted. But come on man…8 freakin’ seconds!! ARGH!!

So I'm officially "on-board" with the "WE NEED IN-GAME SAVES!!" crowd as of this morning...

I think we have all experienced the scenario where we were kneeling the ball to cap off a win and the power goes out. It sucks for sure.

Re: Uhhh..in-game saves???!

Welcome aboard!!

I used to use in-game saves all the time. When my first son was born, there was no telling when I would have to stop a game to go tend to him and tending to him usually wasn't a 5-10 min job. It would usually be hours before I could get back to the game. Thankfully, back then we had in game saves. Last year, my 2nd son was born (7 yrs apart ) and I am catching pure hell nowadays when I try to get a game in. I have pretty much given up playing through the day and I can only play now late at night after he's went to sleep. Oh, how I miss in-game saves.

Yeah that really never happens to me and that's what I heard the most from people wanting in-game saves. I guess that's why I didn't really care about it too much before...

I have never lost power playing my PS3 *knocks on wood*

But for me when ever something comes up and I need to go pick up the kids, Dinner or what ever.. I just pause my PS3 and let it sit there.. I would much rather have in-game saves, but its not the end of the world..

Exactly! If you don't understand why in-game saves are important, there's a good chance you aren't married or don't have kids! I don't even start games unless I'm pretty sure that there's a 20 minute progress point where I can save and quit if the $%*% hits the fan. Most people would think that Madden is a better game than MLB 2k, but since the latter has in-game saves, it's a lot easier for me to commit to starting one of those games.
