Re: Who thinks the ball is too big?

It's too big and the physics of the ball are horrendous.

Dunno. What's the official explanation?
From manufacturer: Wilson Sports
Q: What is the difference between a NCAA football and the NFL footballs? And what are the specification of both?
A: Both the NCAA and the NFL footballs have the same specifications. The specifications of these footballs are: Short Circumference: 20 3/4"- 21 1/4": Long Circumference 27 3/4 "- 28 1/2 "; Weight: approximately 14-15 oz.

Re: Who thinks the ball is too big?

I do recall EA confirming during a Q&A session a year or two back that the ball is indeed larger than scale, but I can't remember now their explanation as to why it was.

It's not a big deal to me...but I did notice this in my limited time with the demo.

Balls fine. The players and field are too small.

Yes, they use the same ball. The NCAA one looks bigger because of the stripe on one side. Take an NCAA ball ans look at it with the stripes showing, take the same ball and rotate it so the stripes face away from you. Your eyes will perceive a size difference even though there isn't.

This is also why 'big boned' people shouldn't wear horizontal stripes.

Re: Who thinks the ball is too big?

I remember when this game first came out on next gen consoles someone stated that the footballs were too big in relation to the player models. I think EA stated if they were to fix the football size that they would have to scrap the engine and start all over again. Don't quote me on this but I remember hearing something like that.

Re: Who thinks the ball is too big?

I agree that the ball looks ridiculous. It doesn't affect the way the game plays but it's disappointing because it makes it seem as though the devs really don't care that much. Not saying that they don't care, but it makes it seem that way. Another way of looking at it is, if they can't get the size of the football right in a supposed "simulation" football game, what can they get right?

It also serves as a metaphor for EA football games this generation of consoles. Something just isn't "right" about it.

Just my opinion.

EDIT: Just before people jump down my throat, NCAA 11 seems to have massively improved this year and, while not perfect, is good enough to warrant a purchase from me. In other news, I find it sad that I have to put a disclaimer at the bottom of a critical post to protect myself from flamethrowers.
