Tuner sets were great in NHL because they circumvented the patch process. The way it worked was patches fix things that were broken (freezing etc). Tuner sets adjusted gameplay (goalie rebounds etc). I think we got 2 patches and 3 tuner sets.

Re: NCAA Tuner Sets and Game Speed Level being added

I played a good amount of NHL 10, and the tuner sets were very effective.

It gave slider guys all sorts of headaches though. They had to really rework the sliders after each new tuner set was released. I don't envy you

Yeah, the tuners were basically like patches for gameplay.

I also liked that you could keep the same sliders and just pick the latest tuner to see how it played with the sliders + tuner.

Question for you NHL guys...Will they be able to fix the Def back AI with tuning?

Re: NCAA Tuner Sets and Game Speed Level being added

Here's an example of what one of the NHL tuner sets did, so you can judge for yourself how it may be applicable to NCAA:

###

All modes

-Poke check effectiveness increased
-Ease of tripping a player when poke check lowered
-Goalie tuning to prevent some exploit shots
-Shot accuracy increased

EASHL/OTP
-Puck control down decreased (still higher than pre-V1.03)
-Acceleration decreased
-Top skating speed increased
-Pass error decreased
-Pass speed increased

Versus
-Acceleration decreased slightly
-Puck control decreased (still higher than pre-V1.03)
-Deflections increased (same as EASHL/OTP now)

Offline (V1.03 only)
-Screen effect increased
-Range of acceleration slider increased. The lowest value is 25% lower than before the highest is the same.
-Deflections increased (same as EASHL/OTP now)

Highlights of the update include:
-Increased variation in goalie positioning
-Rebounds directed further to the side of the net
-Small reduction in goalie reaction times, top speed and acceleration
-Increase in screen effect on goalies (online only)
-Reduced post-whistle time (online only)
-Decreased effectiveness of the pass block (LB/L1) at taking the puck away
-Increased frequency of deflections (EASHL/OTP only)
-Prevent CPU defenders from being easily lured into hooking penalties in EASHL/OTP games
-Improved ability to intercept weak passes
-For EASHL/OTP, the range of the some of the attribute effects has been increased

hawkeykid,

so i can create sliders and then when a tuner set is released i don't have to switch sliders they instantly kinda work hand in hand with the sliders making them more effective or what?

I loved Madden 10 until they kept releasing patch after patch then i completely stopped playing

The patches kept screwing up the sliders

This is great, it really looks like PC style patches.

It looks to me like you'd have to tweak the sliders depending on what's changed, like if it deals with AI intelligence or player attributes
