Locomotion - Thoughts on Momentum

We've all played the demo by now (if you haven't please do so before voting). We all heard how locomotion was going to change the game. It's clear that players have more weight and momentum. But is it enough?

I personally thought there would be a bigger difference. You can still zig zag with players without losing too much speed. I'd like to see it a little heavier myself. I think most players can juke or cut once without losing much speed. But double moves should really slow down a player and I think the game misses the boat a little in this department.

Vote now and share your thoughts. Fun and realism aren't always tied together so there really isn't a right or wrong answer.

Re: Locomotion - Thoughts on Momentum

I like the new locomotion a lot -- it's a huge improvement over NCAA 10.

That said, I think movement feels a bit light and "airy." I also think the demo lacks explosiveness when you hit the sprint button -- I like to use speedsters to set up slower defenders and blow past them with the sprint button, but I'm not having much luck with that in the demo.

(I've also experimented with Auto Sprint turned on and off in the demo.)

The other problem is that defenders still don't truly react to cuts and plants. If a ballcarrier is running full speed and suddenly plants and changes direction, most of the time defenders have to slow down and adjust -- in NCAA if you slow down with a ballcarrier you just get steamrolled.

Re: Locomotion - Thoughts on Momentum

I think it's vastly improved as well. Could it be better? Yes, but as one reviewer recently said, it probably will never be. Because after all, who wants the "fun" of realism controlling a 300 pound lineman? It's like steering a slow, huge truck. And even if you control only the agile skill players if the game made it 100% realistic a lot of the fun overall would be drained.

So maybe that guy is right, I'm not sure. I do know that we here at OS represent a tiny fraction of the population in our pursuit of simulation type football so whatever the poll ends up saying it will probably be disregarded as zealotry by EA.

I have no complaints, so I suppose I'd go with "perfect" even though it could be just a LITTLE better lol

I really wish ea would work alot more with the oline. Like getting their first steps at least right. And get rid of suction blocking. If the the olineman is out of position he should not be able to make a block like he does in the game

Re: Locomotion - Thoughts on Momentum

I definitely think it's better. I just think it could have been pushed a little more.
