Intercepted Option pitches

OK, technically these are fumbles, right? Anyway....can you remember ever seeing a real option "intercepted" in real life? Defenders are coached to stay home. DE string it out to the sideline, CB stays back to help once the defensive key has engaged, right? I need to work on my option game, but the way the CPU defense snatches them, it's as painful as the frequency of the Pick Six in NCAA 09.

I run the option constantly and haven't had one "picked" yet. Just throw it before you get too close to a defender. You want them to commit to the ball carrier but you don't want him standing right on top of or beside you.

I made this post after the demo came out, and got eaten alive for pitching when I shouldn't have. I agree with you...and good luck! You just need to teach yourself to take a loss every now and then, and don't EVER pitch with defenders in between the QB and HB.

PS. I have seen it once, don't remember the game.

Back in high school, one of our ends picked off a sweep. I got some lol's out of it.

I've had 1 maybe 2 "picked off" in 1 and half years of dynasty. I just don't pitch it if it's covered...

Re: Intercepted Option pitches

When was the last time you saw the QB pitch the ball with a defender close to the RB? Usually it never happens for a reason. Don't pitch it unless your 100% sure it won't get picked. I have only lost probably three and they were all my faulr. I did pick one off against the CPU for my first time ever.

Re: Intercepted Option pitches

I did it against a friend in a ranked game when the goofball tried to pitch with 2 guys in front of his hb. Laughed my a-word off all the way to the end zone.

In junior high a little runt on our team bursted through the oline and literally took the handoff out of the qb's hands before the running back got to it on a dive play, to this day one of the coolest plays I've seen, even if it was junior high.

Re: Intercepted Option pitches

Some teams will assign a DE or LB to tackle the pitch man on every option play. If the pitch is poorly timed, the defender has a shot at picking it off. I saw it happen in HS. I believe it is ruled a fumble as long as the ball is not pitched forward.
