Re: Seriously screwed up Top 25 / rankings...

If you want a easy ranking boost schedule Boise late in the year. In my dynasty I was undefeated until I lost against Michigan in a upset. Going into the last week of the season I was ranked #6. Lucky for me I scheduled Boise who was ranked #2 despite playing only a handful of teams with winning records and no ranked teams. I beat them and that boosted me up to #2 in the BCS and I went on to play in the national championship.

I usually look at the number of ranked teams in a conference to determine its strength that year and going by that logic the ACC and SEC are tied for number one.

If ACC is is tied with SEC that method is flawed

The ACC is the strongest conference top to bottom. The SEC is best at the top. It all depends on how you look at it. I doubt any ACC team could win a national championship, but there are plenty of good teams int he conference.

Uhm, no?

Hello... Dook? Virginia? Maryland?

Dook, Virginia, Maryland combined, are worse than Vanderbilt, Mississippi State, and whatever SEC team that had a winning record you consider 10th strongest in the conference.

Look at the ACC/SEC records from last year:
12. Maryland 2-10 / Vanderbilt 2-10 -- split
11. Virginia 3-9 / Mississippi State 5-7 -- SEC
10. Dook 5-7 / Kentucky 7-6 -- SEC
9. NC State 5-7 / South Carolina 7-6 -- SEC
8. Wake Forest 5-7 / Tennessee 7-6 -- SEC
7. Florida State 7-6 / Auburn 8-5 -- SEC
6. North Carolina 8-5 / Arkansas 8-5 -- split
5. Boston College 8-5 / Georgia 8-5 -- split
4. Clemson 9-5 / Mississippi 9-4 -- split
3. Miami 9-4 / LSU 9-4 -- split
2. Virginia Tech 10-3 / Florida 13-1 -- SEC
1. Georgia Tech 11-3 / Alabama 14-0 SEC

So yeah, the SEC is strong at the top... but the entire conference is strong all the way down. Ten teams in the SEC won at least 7 games, while just 8 in the ACC even had winning records.

This is still getting off-topic. Who cares which conference you FEEL is better?

The problem is rankings within the game which have a huge impact on dynasty mode. It's fairly obvious that the formula used needs to be tweaked a bit.

Re: Seriously screwed up Top 25 / rankings...

Okay, so in the second week of my dynasty, Miami just defeated Ohio State (at Ohio State). Now OSU is ranked 8th, while Miami is 10th. Miami is 2-0, OSU is 1-1. Miami was 14th before the game... if this was real life, Miami would have jumped ahead of them for sure. Also in the same week, Florida State won at TCU... now TCU is ranked 14th, and Florida St. is ranked 15th. TCU fell from 8th, Florida St. moved up from 20th. Once again, in real life Florida St. would have moved above TCU.

I'm not controlling any of these teams so I don't care too much... but it is sorta screwed up.

that would be cool if this game had an optional playoff system. I remember one of the genesis versions of ncaa had a playoff system and it would even use the big bowl games for the final games.
