Re: QB Sim Stats: Only AWR Matters

Ok after simming dynasties.....I have come to the following conclusions....

1. NO QB should have an awareness over 85. I find having QB's range from 75 to 85 gives the best diverse stat results. With awareness over 85, I seen way too many QB's passing for over 4300 yards with only 2 or 3 INTs.

But having it range from 75 to 85, with 85 being reserved for the top 5 passing QB's of last year, the number of QB's passing over 4300 yards decreased to only a handful. With completion % ranging from 50 to 68. More INTs were being thrown. To me that is more realistic.

2. Keep in mind how much a QB throws also depends on the coach philosphy for that school too. Because I had the Navy QB awareness rating at 75, however he still threw for over 2000 yards with a 52% completion rating. Which is pretty accurate considering Navy is a run heavy option team.

Have you guys tried to edit a QB and increase his awr to 99 and lower his THA and THP and see what happens? Then decrease a QB's awr to 50 and increase his THA and THP to 99 and see what happens?

Re: QB Sim Stats: Only AWR Matters

Yeah I tried that....THP & THA don't seem to matter at all. The only thing that effect how many TDs and INTs a QB throw is the awareness. 90 awareness and above...QB might throw 2 or 3 INTs all YEAR.

From 75 to 80 awareness they range from 6 to 14 INTs a year. Lower the awareness the more INT's they throw.

Coaching philosophy matters too. Texas Tech was had the number one offense when I simmed a dynasty. And when I looked at their coaching profile, they had a pretty aggressive offensive play calling plan too, along with higher passing plays vs run plays, I think their pass was 80.

Move that stuff around and the results will change. I put Army passing at 90 and aggressive, sure enough they ended up ranked 3rd for total offense and their QB threw close to 4000 yards.

Works that way with defense too. However the results will only be as good as their personnel and playbook too. They will do what the slider you put it at tells them to do, to the best of their abilities. So if you put defense aggressive, they will be blitz crazy, look for turnovers more, however if they got a weak line or LB core, they won't get a lot of sacks though against a team with a better oline.

Too bad the coaching philosophy only works in dynasty. I wish it was like 2K basketball games where it worked in season mode or quick play mode as well.

The only thing I am having a hard time fixing is the lack of drops by WR's. At the end of the year I seen dozens of WR's with no drops. But however I noticed that is only a problem when you simming, because when you play the game, you see a good number of drops.

Hahaha, OK I was just making sure. That seems like a matter issue, stats wise . Who knew that awareness had that much affect. I mean it should have some affect, and I think I definitely notice a difference playing with a QB with low awr as opposed to high awr, but geeeeeez.

Good research, although Boise does play in by far the easiest conference. You would think their QB could put up some of the best numbers. Just saying...

Re: QB Sim Stats: Only AWR Matters

Ratings mean nothing on Heisman if you are playing the games. I wonder if it is the same if you sim them on this level?

Also, did you take into account the WR core the player is throwing to? And how good the players O-line is? I only ask because I am much too lazy to read through the whole thread and, since there is no discussion of this on the first page, or, this page. I just saw you QB comparison table, but, you did not have the same QB from the same school with altered ratings, it appears. May not make a difference, but, AWR is by far the most important stat for a player not under human control, anyway.

Haven't tested this yet, but usually in both Madden and NCAA, super sim more closely resembles the sim stats rather than on-field gameplay.

Sometimes, Super sim has a mind of it's own though. For instance, in Madden, on super sim last year, there would often be between 1 and 4 Kickoff Returns for TDs in every game.
