try that - it wouldn't support Excel 2007 files so I had to save it as 2003 which didn't support some of the conditional formatting that I used.

i used it to keep past results but it also gives me a clue into how hard other teams are recruiting them. for instance if i get 300 points in one week and my lag increases to 400, i know the top team is going hard after them. conversely if i mail it in and spend 20 minutes and get 150 points and my lag goes down or stays the same, it tells me that other teams aren't spending that many minutes with them either. it also lets me make an educated guess on a recruit's value of a certain subject if i do a blind pitch. if it comes back high i know he rates it high and have a snapshot of that without using minutes to ask him.

Great job srudoff. Thanks for sharing. I will be putting this to use.

I am a gigantic, GIGANTIC (shut up, Petey <_<) Excel nerd, but I don't see what this accomplishes. The game pretty much already keeps track of all this info automatically, right? Why would you have to go through the trouble of entering it all by hand?

Correct me if I'm wrong, srudoff but I don't know that the sheet is intended to do anything other than help you keep your thoughts straight when it comes to recruiting. Even if that's "all" it does, it's still a big help with so many things going on in recruiting. Also, the game doesn't really show you how things progressed historically from week to week. It just shows you how you did that particular week. If you want to see a progression from week 1 through week 8, for example, you can't. Or at least not that I've been able to find. I love the sheet myself and will probably give it a try.

I'm an Excel nerd too, BTW.

Re: Spreadsheet to help with recruiting

So, how would you use this sheet? Like exactly?

I use it to see trends with my recruits - in game you only get a snapshot of what happened that week. If you don't get to play the game for a few days, you get back to the recruiting section and you may not remember how far behind or ahead you were last week. And you certainly can't see in the game that you've been slowly catching up on the top school for a recruit.

This honestly takes me an extra minute per recruit once you know what you're doing - if that.

Some tips - if you get a coach's choice, use that screen to update all of your recruit's colors for each subject - you'll find that many of them have been swayed by other schools. I've even seen a recruit's Most go down to Very High (not sure you could do that in 2010).

Also there is some conditional formatting that calls for a cell to check to see if OSU is the recruit's top choice. You'll have to edit that for your school to make the formatting show up.

Finally, when a recruit signs with you or signs with another school, you can right click his tab and choose green or red for the tab color so you can see their status at a glance.
