Thorny Welcome to the Big 10

Being a Husker fan I've been eagerly awaiting the new conference alignment, and to see what our schedule is going to look like.

Well we found out yesterday.

Here is our 2011 schedule:
09/03
09/10 Fresno State
09/17 Washington
09/24 @Wyoming

10/01 @Wisconsin
10/08 Ohio State
10/15
10/22 @Minnesota
10/29 Michigan St.
11/05 Northwestern
11/12 @Penn State
11/19 @Michigan
11/26 Iowa

Looks like the Huskers are playing with the big dogs now!

Re: Thorny Welcome to the Big 10

Welcome back to Penn State's schedule. Love the Nebraska/PSU games...my first PSU game was in 1982...I was in the endzone and about 25' from the play in question. I was in attendance in 2002, when I felt that stadium shake for the first time as PSU went on to route Nebraska 40-7 that night.

I remember the Nebraska QB after the game saying, he's been to Texas, Oklahoma, Texas A&M and never felt the field shake.

Of course, that was the first game I remember Nebraska wearing white pants and tops...and I don't think they wore them the next year.

Playing with the big dogs now? Not been a fan long? Nebraska has played with enough big dogs. Texas and OU are OSU and Mich. Iowa and Wisky are playing better NOW, but historically arent above schools like Mizzou and Okie-Lite. Throw in CU, KU, and Tam, and you have 3 more schools that very often play at a decently high level.

Big 10 will be tough. For Neb and their opponents.

Re: Thorny Welcome to the Big 10

i went to iowa but being from IL, i wasnt really into college football too much, but I love it now (helps that we went to orange bowl my freshman year 2002 even though we got murdered). Most of the friends I made were from Iowa near the nebraska border. I never understood why there was so much of a hate between the 2 fan bases, being that we didnt really play eachother. I come to find out its a pretty big deal though, and Im glad that were gonna be playing eachother yearly now =) welcome to the b10

Yes, Welcome to the Big Ten. I can't wait for the Iowa-Nebraska games over the years. I have alot of friends in the Omaha area that are Nebraska fans, so I think it is great that they are going to be playing each other on a yearly basis. Nebraska will be my 2nd fave team in the conference and I hope you guys beat up on Michigan and Ohio State.

CU? KU?

Big 12 north is a joke! KU went 1-7 in the Big 12 last year, you call them at a "high level"?! Ridiculous. Big 12 south is competitive, but Nebraska only plays 3 of those teams a year. There is no competition in the north, in comparison to the south at least. Maybe with Snyder at K State now, and Mizzou's halfway decent, but Nebraska will school anyone in the north this year.

No competition at all in comparison to who they'll face in the big 10.
