I have a stupid question about sceme vs playbooks

Whats the difference between the scheme and the playbook? Lets say if you pick an option scheme but use USCs playbook, will you just run the very few option plays (if any) in USC's playbook a lot? Conversely, if you pick a pro style scheme but use Georgia Techs playbook, what happens?

Is the scheme more at the mercy of the playbook or is it the other way around? Sorry for the stupid question but Im trying to get a feel for this dynamic.

Your playbook is the formations and the plays in said formations that you have at your disposal whether that be offense or defense. Your scheme is how you go about executing those plays in those formations. I'm not sure how NCAA 11 differentiates between the two.

Best examples I can use are Nevada and West Virginia. The Nevada Wolfpack run the option out of the pistol, while the Mountaineers run the option out of the spread. Same option principles, just a different way of accomplishing it.
