Read Option

This has to be a really easy play if you run it right?

Im having a lot of success against the CPU and humans with this play.

Re: Read Option

Ya! I use to always just hand the ball off, but once I figured out how to read the DE, it's a very effective play and I rarely lose yards.

Re: Read Option

Works on varsity but after moving up to heisman, it gets blown up even with the right reads.

You have to pick your spots with it.

What I normally do is call a read option in the huddle and then line up with it. If the defense spreads the field with my receivers, I'll usually go with the read option and you usually have the numbers to run it successfully. If the defense is tight in the box or a safety is creeping up on the read side, I'll check out of it.

Really, that concept applies to the entire spread rushing game, not just read option.

Re: Read Option

It's success is very dependent on sliders and difficulty. With Playmaker's varsity sliders it will work sometimes, but sometimes it will get blown up. You have to check out of it quite a bit. With All American sliders it works sometimes, but gets blown up quite a bit more than it should. On Heisman, it's a practice in futility.

Honestly, at any difficulty it doesn't work exactly right. The blocking schemes are incorrect, so if the linebackers sneak up you're pretty likely to get creamed for a short gain if not a loss.
