Using protect ball and special moves together

Do you still get the added ball security of the protect ball button if you press and hold it, then use a special move afterward? Or do the security bonus and penalty offset, or do you simply get only the penalty from the special move? My specific case is that I like to run zone reads(thanks to those who responded to my recent thread on them, the suggestions helped), and although on my current dynasty I have a pocket passing quarterback, he's quick enough to run them with effectiveness. The problem is that since he's not a runner my only option to keep him out of harm's way is to dive, since the QB slide won't work on designed runs, which causes him to cough up the ball about 50% of the time due to his low carry rating. I'm wondering if holding the protect ball button then using the dive would actually do me any good. It seems to in a comparison of multiple runs in practice(the 50% applied to no protect ball, I only had one fumble out of six or seven using protect ball), but does anyone know for sure?

I think the biggest problem is just that you're using dive with the quarter back. For the last three or four versions of the game if you dive while running with the quarter back he'll just fumble it right away. You're better off just letting the QB get hit.

Im not sure either but you should never dive with the QB and you dont have to get hit either you should slide (which i just learned how to do myself ) just very lightly tap x and he'll slide

Ok thanks, I was starting to think that may be the best solution.

That only works on pass plays when you scramble. The slide won't work on designed QB runs because the QB is treated as a ball carrier from the start of the play.

Just last night I was using Denard Robinson and got a first down then covered up the ball and the defender stripped it anyway. Anybody else had this happen?

I've had it happen a few times. The protect ball button doesn't prevent fumbles, it just significantly decreases the chance of it. Also, QBs tend to fumble more because even running QBs usually have a relatively low carrying rating.
