Re: Low Prestige Schools and Recruiting
I took a 2* Buffalo to 4* in two seasons, received an invite to the ACC after the second season and just played the third season in place of Duke.
Recruiting wise, through three seasons, I have signed exactly one 4* and no 5* players. Yet, I have managed to find at least 10 (probably closer to 20) players who came in a Frosh rating higher than 75 with great skills.
What I did was attack the athletes and the 3* players which specific skills. For instance, my starting QB in season 4 (after Jerry Davis graduated - he's very good by the way) was an athlete and is a redshirt Frosh. Here is his measurables:
6'2", 210-ish lbs., 81 sp, 86 acc, 81 agl, 68 awr, 66 brk, 84 thp, 81 tha, 89 sta, and 93 inj.
He was a 2* athlete from Canada. His other good positions were DE and LB. He started out as a 76 ovr QB and is now 81 ovr after his redshirt year.
Another guy I had was a 1* athlete, 6'5", almost 300. He came in this season as a true Frosh, now my starting RT, ovr of 77. He has str, acc, and blk ratings higher than 80 and awr at 69. Every other position, he was rating about 40-50's.
My second class, I signed 16 athletes and 12 of those 16 are currently starters as Fr or So.
My team is good; I recommend scouring the athletes and the lower rated guys with specific skill sets.
