What's your policy regarding Junior College recruits?

I find they're a great bargain for teams on the cusp of greatness and can really provide a boost for a young program low on talent. Generally, Juco recruits are a bit higher rated than similar prospects in their class. A 3 star Juco prospect. might be equivalent to a low to mid 4 star normal prospect. My teambuilder team was around a 4 star prestige and needed WRs for our Run and Shoot offense badly, so I went out and scooped up a couple Juco WRs. They instantly contributed and by the time they graduated, my school had risen to 6 star prestige.

When I've got an established 6 star team, I tend to not go after Juco kids until midway through the season when I have an idea what my recruiting class will look like. Unlike the normal prospects who can get snatched up pretty quickly, most Juco recruits can be swayed well into the season even if they were off your radar for weeks. Unless he's the best recruit in the country and would be an instant All American on my team, I don't touch Juco guys at first.

Didn't know this.

But, I tend to go for them only if I'm using a low tier team. If I'm a well off team, I'll only go for them if I need immediate help, but always try and recruit a FR under them

Yeah. By like week 9, most of the FR recruits have their top 3 set in stone. Juco guys can still be in the top 5 or top 8 stage at that point and are still realistic targets. They're a great safety net for when you can't nab that "your" guy and don't have another FR lined up.

Yea youre thinking of transfers who have to sit for a year. Cam Newton is a good example for both cases, he transferred from Florida and had to sit a year (or not play for a D1 team) so he went to Blinn College last year, then as a JUCO, was able to play for Auburn immediately this season.

Re: What's your policy regarding Junior College recruits?

There can be some studly JUCO recruits. I signed a 4-star JUCO running back, I think he was like the #8 running back in the class. (I was South Carolina in year 2 btw) He comes in at 87 overall, with 80's across the board, even in awareness (89 which was his highest rating in all categories). He's my back-up for Lattimore now, but he gets his touches and makes the most of them. He hits the hole well, and he definitely feels different than any other running back I've used. He's not very quick, not really a power back or anything but he gets a good 5-7 yard run about every time I give it to him.

There are certain JUCO's that I go after. I check all their (important at their position) ratings before committing my time to go after them. If they are generally above C+ across the board, I usually give them a try.

Might seem like a dumb question. But how do you know the difference between JUCO and regular recruits?

On the recruiting screen for the individual player it will say juco.
