Angry Walk-On Kickers, What a joke!

I know walk-on's are supposed to suck, but every walk-on kicker I get is a 40 something OVR and kick power and accuracy in the 40's!!! I can't make anything! Also, the CPU controlled teams sometimes get walk-on kickers (such as Boise State in my dynasty) that miss extra points! 90% of my players have better kicking ratings then the walk-on kicker.

Edit: Here are some other peoples thoughts:

100% AGREED, ITS RIDICULOUS

INTERESTING SUGGESTION, BUT IT SHOULDN'T COME DOWN TO THE USER DOING EXTRA WORK TO MAKE THE KICKERS BALANCED.
ALSO, IN MY DYNASTY IT WAS BOISE STATE WHO I WAS PLAYING THAT MISSED EXTRA POINTS AND CRUCIAL FIELD GOALS!

THIS IS NOT ALWAYS TRUE BECAUSE BOISE STATE IS ONE OF THE ELITE TEAMS, YET THEY FAILED TO RECRUIT A KICKER IN MY DYNASTY. AND 65-70 OVR KICKERS WOULD WORK FOR ME TOO.

Yeah, it happens from time to time, but it is ridiculous in this year's game. I think it's another case of overcompensation for the CPU always nailing 50+ yarders. It's the opposite of what they did with blocks and kick returns... they wanted to make those rare, but instead they basically just eliminated them .
100% AGREED. THEY COMPLETELY EXAGGERATED THE DIFFICULTY OF SPECIAL TEAMS THIS YEAR.

What I did when this happened was search my roster. Go to all and sort by kicking power (or accuracy). I was lucky enough to find a backup safety that had 70/68 KPW/KAC ratings. The following offseason I made sure I went after a couple kickers in recruiting. The majority of the top kickers went to big named schools so I just got a couple punters and moved the one with the best accuracy to K.

All walk-on kickers should automatically be 70 OVR, and very few should progress past 85.

It's not just walk-ons. Decent kickers are gold.

Re: Walk-On Kickers, What a joke!

Been lucky as a 6* Auburn dynasty, but best advice I saw somewhere here in another thread was ea. preseason go in and create 3-4 kickers/punters.
Even by the time you get down to the 3rd-best kicker, it gets pretty rough. The game just doesn't produce enough specialists (compared to 254 centers ea. season). I had the 2nd-ranked K 3 seasons ago so I went in and jotted down his numbers then threw three 'created' guys into the mix w/ some ratings a bit above and a bit below my guy to bring up the talent level in the K/P pool.
It's an extra 10 minutes in the preseason and if I do it every year -- even the years I'm not in search of a K/P -- I don't consider this cheesing.

I'll add this, though. Every season I run through the spreadsheet (from using PocketScout) and there will be one -- not two, just one -- position player with a rating of something like 47 that has KP and KA scores at 80+. They're usually the 2,131st (lol) ranked recruit, but they're there, almost guaranteed.

I think 70 is way too high. When your a crappy team like Wyoming, a 70 is one of your best players. I would be satisfied with a 60 OVR. Maybe 60-70 kick power and accuracy.

ok thats great but no one should be in a situation where 90% of their team has better kicking OVR! My QB is my best kicker on my team with a 59 power 50 accuracy. THIS SHOULD NOT BE!! in real life you don't see teams with scrub kickers who miss extra points regularly! Especially Boise State, who would have a easy time recruiting a kicker in real life.

Re: Walk-On Kickers, What a joke!

Something you might want to consider is creating 15-20 Kickers every year. Making a Kicker doesn't take long because you don't have to worry about any of his other cats being highter then a 50 Overall, Just KP,KA and maybe Awareness or somthing. If you wanted to give them some ability to throw the ball in fake situiations that would work. too. You can actually great up to 30 players per year I believe. That's what I have done in the past. Biggest issues you might run into is where 1 school will sign 2 or 3 of the created kickers. That part sucks.

I am currently using BSU and need a Kicker and Punter I currently have offered scholarships to 3 different 3* Kickers and 3 different 3* Punters. As soon as I land 1 of each, I will resend my scholarship offers on the other guys but until I land one I am going after all 6.
