Are you milking the clock in the 4th quarter??

I have been in many nail biting situations where I have came back to take the lead or the other team is driving in the 4th quarter with little time left on the clock. A few times, I ended up milking the clock, with about 2-3 minutes left in the game, I'll run the play clock down and run a running play. Then there have been times when I say the heck with it and keep on playing like normal, and forget about the play clock. I know I have seen threads on here about quarter lengths, and the norm is between 7-9 min quarters. I have always played with 10 min quarters ever since playing NCAA, so with that, I usually have some time to spare. Who on here does what.... Do you run plays like normal, or do you milk the play clock as much as you can??

I play mercy-style football, some would call it pity football. My goal is to end the game as fast as possible no matter who is in the lead.

Re: Are you milking the clock in the 4th quarter??

I play on 9 minutes. I only allow myself to go into "milk clock mode" in the game's final 4 minutes, otherwise I feel as if I am ruining the sim by shortening the game to an unrealistic level.

The reason I choose under 4 minutes is because this is the point the CPU offense starts to milk the clock when they have the lead. I figure it is only fair that I only allow myself to do the same thing.

I'll milk the clock with a 10-14 point lead but if it's more or I'm getting blown away I will put bench players in, play it normal and see what they bring. I have found guys with low ratings like a 54 MLB you played a decent FB. Found a low rated CB who could actually cover.

You guys must average 60-70 points a game with 9 minute quarters! That blows my mind.

I average about 40/game on 5 minute quarters.

Not even close. I get very realistic looking results on 9 minutes.

I've had 13-3 games, 27-13, 45-42, and 13-10 games. I usually take my time calling plays, analyze the defense, make adjustments, etc. I also watch all the cut scenes.

5 minute quarters has to be what, 30 minutes of real game time?

For someone with a wife and kids and can only play the game maybe twice a week, I want my games to last long. On 9 minutes, I get a good hour to hour and 15 minutes of game time.
