Banning 4-5 WR in Online Dynasty?

I know it seems like a pretty Nazi move, but hear me out. A dude I played with a few months ago outlawed every WR formation except for 3 WR Normal (no Trips), and that was by far the most realistic/fun dynasty I've ever been a part of. Everyone basically ran a pro style offense and all of the games were freakin' intense as hell. A lot of close, defensive games. the only time we were allowed to run 4-5 wide were when there were less than 2 minutes remaining in the second and fourth quarters. It was great.

These formations are 100% unstoppable against someone who knows what they're doing. The CPU's AI simply cannot cover all of these receivers. I've shut down a lot of scrubs who consistently stay in a 5 wide, but against someone who is somewhat decent, there is absolutely no answer. I switched playbooks because I don't even find it fun to use. It seems like cheese to me, and I don't want that temptation in the Shotgun category.

So, should I outlaw it in my online dynasty? It's just too easy to exploit the AI. If you're really good like your stats suggest, then you can read the defense out of 2-3 WR sets. I'm sick and tired of seeing people in my OD's have their freakin' #4 WR average 11 receptions and 180 YPG. Thanks in advance.

Seems to me the problem is your people in the dynasty and not the formations themselves.

I would agree. I think that their are realistic times to run 4 or 5 wide and the users should be mature enough to regulate themselves on cheese vs. sim.

This is a stunning commentary on how pathetic the defense is in this years game. Banning formations? It should NEVER come to that. but I understand why it has and its sad.

I agree with these sets and a scrambling QB like Pryor or Robinson wow just complete BS for they are unstoppable thats why you just have to play with guys that are sim and know whats right and wrong

Any average Joe can throw out of the 4-5 wide. DBs are too dumb in zones and the pass rush is basically useless.

Can that average joe match the running %'s a real spread team put up with 4-5 wide sets? There is the problem.

You're calling cheese what a spread team basically does. With regards to QB scrambling, the problem isn't the humans doing it, the problem is the LACK of the CPU doing it. This is how a lot of teams make their bread and butter lately on offense, including the last few national champions. Running Shot Wr4 - Spacing once in a game on 3rd and 3 is NOT cheese.

It's no different than milking the clock. The Pittsburgh Steelers would have conservative set ALL the time, yet some here call that "cheese". Just use it when its in your situational arsenal. If it's 3 min left in the half and I am getting a drive going against a human or cpu, I will use it to try and run the clock to the half. It's not cheese at all.

Yes, zone coverage sucks in this game and slots are not covered effectively. The ONLY way to combat this is to control yourself and monitor what others are doing and call them out on it. The other major problem is the over blitzing of the CPU by the aggression sliders on the coaching side. It sucks we cannot adjust them in the online dynasties.

In other words, have fun and worry about yourself. Find others who feel that way and join them in the online world.

Personally I would never resort to banning a formation in an attempt to achieve more sim stats. I think it is crap and a testament to how bad the cpu AI is if you have to go that far. We have all tinkered with sliders to help the cpu but banning formations? I think that is too far.
