I think these features would make defense fun and allow more strategy to be in the game. I think this game is taken steps towards that and I like it. This would be a HUGE just like breaking down the WR depth chart to Flanker and Slot. At least make it a coaching option as not to confuse the casual gamer.

The WR part is something, I don't want to say "bothers" me, but wish was a part of the game for me personally. I played WR in college, and I RARELY saw an offensive scheme where the WR alignment (as far as where an X, Z, and slot line up) wasn't based on the formation.

It'd be nice to not have to use subs or packages or anything to get WRs in their right spots.

They also need to give you the option to tell your corners to shade either inside or outside when playing the receiver. I loved that feature in 2K and Madden (05, I think).

If I'm playing human, I use formation subs to move my best CB to cover the slot receiver, since that's all anyone throws to. I do this in my nickel and dime packages. That way when I'm in a 4-3, I still have my guy out there.

I really feel defensive matchups combined with strong and weak sides (as several have mentioned) would go a long way towards making defense fun again.

As it stands now if I recruit what would be a great weak-side linebacker and put him at LOLB then the opposing team can just run to their right over and over again to take advantage of it without my strong-side linebacker switching spots to focus against those running plays.
