I dropped the punt accuracy slider and finally started getting some better returns. The CPU finally wont kick it to the same exact spot every time, and is allowing for some better return angles.

The problem with punts is that the line is trying to rush the punter instead of running back and setting up a wall for the returner. Also, as soon as the punt is kicked the entire line jumps and is pushed down by the kicking team.

Another problem of course is the ability of the kicking team swarm to cut on a dime whenever the returner does making it nearly impossible to get away from them.

I have returned some for touchdowns and they all happen the same way. You run one way, cut back the other way breaking 2 or 3 tackles and outrun the punter to the endzone.

Yeah that is the problem, the whole kick line instantly just steam roll through your block line at the same time. Then of course you have both corners in your grill as soon as you catch the ball.

It don't even matter what speed rating the gunners have either. I edited the gunners speed down to 40 and they still got down field at the same fast speed like nothing changed.

It is the same thing with the kicking line, you can lower all of their block ratings to 40 and they can still stone wall you and you won't even come close to blocking their punt.

Special teams is just automatic regardless of ratings. They will automatically stone wall you on kick block protection and they will automatically warp down the field on coverage.

The line shoudn't even be trying to block the punt. As soon as the ball is kicked they should be running towards the returner trying to make a wall.

Yeah this may play a factor for me as well. I religiously recruit 2-star and 3-star guys as for my special teams and play no starters on any of the units; I especially like stealing extremely fast 2-star LBs from small schools to put on my kickoff and punt coverage teams.

On another note, how are you guys getting punt returns? What is your strategy? For me, I am lucky if I get past the first gunner to get 8 yards or so.

Wow I'm the opposite of about all of you guys. Kick returns, I've only had 2 or 3. Punt returns, I've had over 10. This is playing on Heisman btw.

I get lucky and do some Reggie Bush type stuff.
