Re: How are you doing on kickoff returns on NCAA '11?

I'm in my 6th season, and I've had 2 kick offreturns so far. Both were somewhat lucky. I also had one returned on me (in a bowl game no less).

Punt returns, the longest I've had is 15 yards.

Re: How are you doing on kickoff returns on NCAA '11?

you don't need a returner to be fast in order to get good returns

in fact the actual return rating itself is only for the ability of returners during SIM mode it doesn't impact his ability during the actual game

The key is blocking you have to have your special teams players be good blockers and smart enough to locate the right guys to block in the open field

Unfortunatley this is where having the entire roster outside of Offensive Linemen rated in the 40's or below for blocking attributes hurt the actual gameplay on the field....EA needs to re-coed the game and also boost up the run block ratings for all players even if they are not offensive linemen

For the CPU i like to also set their slider at 100 for Run Block it really helps their return game on the varsity level not sure about AA or Heisman as i don't even bother to play on those levels

Re: How are you doing on kickoff returns on NCAA '11?

In last year's game and the one before, returned a few punts for TDs and considered it skill. The TD returns that I get I consider pure luck because I do the exact same thing every time (running to the left sideline) and if I can break a tackle I may go.

Back on the PS2, I considered punt returning to be fun, and a winnable challenge. If I had a really good return man, Id get 5 a year or so. Now, like another poster said, the only thing to try is run to one side, then cut back to the other. If your guy is really fast and agile and can break a tackle, you MIGHT go.

Yeah I have noticed the blocking on heisman is way better then any other level.

I disagree......Part of the line should always be trying to block the punt. That is how I was taught in high school and college. Some of the line go back for run block, but part of the line should always go for the block.

That way you keep pressure on the kicking team and keep their whole team from running at a full sprint at the snap of the ball.

Re: How are you doing on kickoff returns on NCAA '11?

I've had some luck on KRs. I put 99/98 SPD specialists back there and do the single-back return. I normally return a couple a year. No fancy moves, I just manually move my blocker into place before my returner fields the ball and then I cut between the first 2-3 defenders. Then it's all open green.

I'm pretty good with PRs too, but only because I go with "Punt Block Fake Return" (or whatever the play is actually called) and formation sub some blocking TEs or FBs into the line. And then I pull one back as an additional blocker. It seems a bit cheesy and I'm not really happy about doing it, but it seems to be the only way to actually get my guys to set a return.

I'd much rather EA just fix this. Seemed pretty good in '06 - blocks and everything.

I have seen one kickoff returned on '11 against me by a human opponent; I have not returned any kickoffs. I haven't seen any punt returns at all. I play on All-American, unadjusted sliders.

I guess I missworded it they should be rushing the punter, but when the ball is kicked they need to get back and block somebody. In this game they pretty much give up once the ball is gone or are on the ground because they were trying to jump.
