Blocking... My God... Blocking.

Offensive players do not hold their blocks which results in so many blown up plays in the backfield.

Watch LaMichael James get down.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vi_OGLNsKAM

On almost every play someone held a block just long enough for James to squirt by and he did the rest with his speed and athleticism. In the video game, defenders blow right by blockers and James would be lucky to get 2-3 yards.

Im not sure this can be tuned or not, because it has more to do with playing the appropriate animations...it might be more along the lines of a patch, and hopefully not a "wait until Next Year"

And heres a Patch Tuner/Request already by the looks of that vid:

After you turn up the Pass Rush across the board

****Give the Interior DTs and 3-4 DEs more of a Power Push animation and less of the completely coming free variety......Have em push the OL right back into the QB****

And let the ratings of the DL vs OL, like strength, determine the speed of the push
Note: In most cases the OL should always be getting pushed back a little

Heres an example:

Now the 4-3 DEs/3-4 OLBs need to shoot off the ball and get up the field fast taking away that immediate roll out out that so many people like to do in these games

Listen Im still excited for the game, but these changes are desperately needed to enhance specifically, the Online gameplay and strategy

Very good videos.......DEs really should be getting up the field way faster. Not only would it keep people from automatically side stepping to the right or left for 10 yards before they throw it, but it was also make a TRUE pocket.

The way it is now, too much patty cake goes on between DEs and OTs.

I swear to God, if "scrambling" CPU QB's don't scramble, I'm going to flip out.

This has been the biggest problem with special teams blocking since NCAA 07

EA rates the non Offensive line players terrible in blocking....this rating that you commented on (Impact Blocking) is a real game changer IMO

This rating does wonders for all special teams players looking to make open field blocks....

This rating is also one the most underated ratings in the game and you don't really get to see the beauty of this rating unless you roll up your sleeves and increase it yourself because EA isn't going to really touch this rating for any non offensive lineman in the game

This is where a Global editor would be perfect because the only way to fix this is by tweaking the rating no tuner can increase the IMPACT Blocking of any player it has to be done manually on a player by player basis....

Use the IMPACT Blocking rating so that they seek out defenders to block and then boost up their run block footwork and strength so that they sustain their blocks long enough to allow the return games to be effective....

As it stands right now EA for the last 5 years has very rarely gone above a rating of 40 which leads to horrible blocking on special teams because of those ratings being so low.....players just stand around for the part because their IMPACT BLOCK rating makes them brain dead on the field when it's in the 40's

^This. I am right there with you. I usually don't get bent out of shape about a video game, but this absolutely must be done.

Too bad we probably will never see this change either. Until a players physical attributes are really used along with their ratings, EA will continue to give most players real low blocking ability unless they play OL/TE.

It's really annoying seeing the horrid blocking on special teams and the only time you get a good "block" it is actually a penalty. Of course if ST players had good blocking ratings then you could put your 5th string MLB in at LT and he would beast it up!

It's a shame with the way the system is now that EA actually hurts it's game play because everything is solely dependent on ratings that they have to gimp players to make the game play out correctly. One thing I wonder though, why can't EA make height and weight a rating too? Don't need to show it on the ratings screen, but why can't they use your weight as a rating number and your height (inches), then use it as a multiplier for the other ratings?

You could have a 5'9" 180 CB and a 6'4" 290 LT with equal blocking ratings, but the LT's extra height and weight multiplies it so he can stand up to that 300lb DE while the CB would get blown away. Yet on ST plays the CB going up against similar height/weighted players will be able to hold his ground and put a decent block on.
