If you do get a chance to do it in excel, you can open excel files up in google docs (click file, import, from .xls). Then under the share permissions in Google docs there is a checkbox that says "allow anyone to edit" ... uncheck this. That way it can be done in OS and shared with others without people changing it.

I ended up creating this point system.

It ranks teams over multiple years based on the following 8 categories:

Wins
Losses
Win Percentage
Bowl Wins
BCS Bowl Wins
National Titles
Strength Of Schedule
Margin Of Victory (Score Differential)

So each category has 1/8 weight to it, but this can easily be adjusted by changing the values in the yellow portion of the sheet.
