Is there a deterent to spamming strip ball?

I am playing online and my opponent is spamming L1 on defense. Every time I am tackled there is a strip animation. Should I be breaking more tackles? I have fumbled 3 times in the first half and am not noticeably breaking anymore tackles than usual. He also hasn't had one penalty.

So, should I also be spamming L1 every play? Or is this just an anomaly?

Sorry if this is in the wrong place.

Turn "Big Run" to conservative, I personally always do this. Its an absolute must for me, I just refuse to take any chance for a turnover. I also turn on conservative catching.

Also you can cover up the ball which I believe is R1, should lead to less fumbles but makes your player slower
