Does this happen often

Before this year I did not play online at all due to the fact that I wasn't going to pay to play online when I had a 360, now that I have a PS3 I am playing online for the first time.

I like to play a realistic style of game where I don't run the same play or hurry up offense (unless needed). I was beating someone by two scores in the second quarter and he just kept getting delay of game penalties and just quit. I don't want to quit the game to get a loss since I am winning so I just keep declining the penalty. After about 5 min of this he finally just quit or lost connection.

Does this happen often, because if so I guess I will just stick to offline games.
