Gamespot Review: They think the "squiggly lines" for WR routes is a bug...

Ha. I thought it was a bug at first too, but I freely admit this is the first NCAA game I have played since the PS2. Plus I am not reviewing the game suggesting that I had played the last few years.

I think the feature is pretty cool.

Yeah that's the problem. This reviewer spouts off the typical "same as last year" nonsense, then goes on to demonstrate that he was not aware of a prevalent, albeit not overly important, feature that has been in the game for years. It casts serious doubt on his experience and ability to make the kind of comparisons that he did.

And thats just part of why his review is lacking. The score doesn't even matter to me. It's just the way it is obvious he isn't capable of giving the full picture of this game that makes it a joke.

So a few years ago Gamspot fires a guy for giving an honest review of a ****ty game, and yet they have guys like this on staff who bull**** their way through something and are clearly caught lying about their experiences with previous titles and knowing nothing of the sport or series they are reviewing... yup that makes perfect sense

You really can't go to most of the general gaming sites for thorough or, in this case, competent reviews of sports games. Most of the writers for these publications simply don't seem that interested in sports titles. And while you can probably fake knowledge and interest in sports like baseball or basketball somewhat easily, football is too complex, and the games have too many small features that are important, that it becomes obvious when you skim.
