Some of the portraits don't line up with the actual faces, especially a few of the redhaired ones. I know my backup QB has one of the medium build redhead portraits but in game he has a full black beard.

What you can do is use Teambuilder to create your player at his position and figure out which heads are available based on his height/weight and adjust both until you find a face you like. Then go back to RTG and cycle through to that face and hope it's not the one that's improperly linked to the scruffy beard face.
