i didn't get last year's game so i'm unfamiliar with how this system works. is it an automatic download? and is there an indication of when it takes effect or becomes available in-game?

last year, if you were connected to the internet and had activated the EA Online Pass, it would prompt you that a tuner update was available and give you a choice to download it. once downloaded it would be in effect. you could view/delete it any time in the file management screen, but I'm pretty sure its required for any online play.

I can give no further points since the all over the place gameplay would ruin it anyway.
