Him winning a title has nothing to do with the bashing he receives. Madden won a Super Bowl coaching the Raiders and yet he kept his opinions on them to the time period in which he coached them. Watch him in interviews and he'll talk them up, but he realizes that by the 90s they were garbage and shouldn't be judged based on his time there or the decade afterward. Lou Holtz can be a Notre Dame homer but he has to pick the other teams every once in awhile. I get it I think my team can win every game they play but if I was giving my opinion on national television, I'd give the realistic outcome and maybe throw in the a joke about my team winning. He never denotes his opinion as unlikely, he points out that ND could win the game and here's why. Instead of pointing out the fact that ND will likely lose this game and here's why.

What's funny is Mark May gets so pissed off about Lou's homerism that he makes irrational guesses too. Like how he pretty much always picks against ND (Notre Dame isn't going 12-0 anytime soon but they aren't going 0-12 either). You can see the frustration in Mark May, but Lou just doesn't give a f*** and laughs it off. Its funny cause Lou just couldn't care less but frustrating cause I tend to agree with Mark, and Lou acts like a genius when ND wins even though he's wrong 40% of the time about them winning.

I absolutely love laughing at Lou Holtz every week during the season. Every time Michigan and ND play I listen to him talk how ND is such a better team and this and that. It's pretty ammusing when Michigan has beat them the past 2 years and then after the game he talks about how good Michigan had to play in order to beat them. He just hasn't understood that ND is not a very good football team. He pretty much runs the show at ESPN though. My favorite is the judgement decision when him and Mark May battle on a certain topic. Just hilarious listening to those two argue.
