Incorrect. Technology advances at a exponential rate, and the same is true for video game systems. Whether or not EA uses the full capabilities of those technological advancements...that's a different story.

the gameplay was better. I mean, I remember those days well. But WOW. The players actually look like you can control them. Running lanes opened up. Passes actually moved with decent physics.
