I need help. I'm a struggling defensive coordinator(mostly because my offense is terrible) at SDSU and I just wanted to see which defensive formation do you guys find works the best for you! I've been using 4-3 but just played a game using 4-2-5 and it seemed to work a little better!

you use only 1 formation the entire game? thats pretty rough

4-2-5 and 3-3-5 are the ones I use most but I still use almost every formation at least once a game

Up until this year I never used anything but the 4-3 and for whatever reason I was getting spanked using it. I've switched to the 3-3-5 and it has helped alot.

I think maybe there is a bit more emphasis on personnel this year and you have to play to your team's strength and the fact that most teams nowadays run the spread or some variation of it and the 3-3-5 helps slow that down.
