That sounds a little different than what we are talking about. We are seeing defenders not react at all to qb's or rb's passing right by them as they either stand still or move slightly side to side like they are in a zone. I think this mainly occurs in option plays. Here is another example mc watch number 12 of Michigan on the far left:

I think in EA trying to open up the option play, this little quirk popped up..

EA and 2k have the unfortunate task of trying to balance on a tightrope of fun and sim while trying not to fall 10,000 feet to their death. Instead of a safety net waiting down below there will just be angry customers quick to move out of the way and talk of their failure.
