Still enjoying the game, thoughts for next year.
Well, I've played about 150 games now, about 100 online, and I still find this game quite enjoyable. Blocking feels pretty solid, the amount of pressure generated on defense feels good, passing accuracy feels well represented, and tackling feels solid. I also very much enjoy being able to have offensive and defensive tendencies during the game. There are, however, a few things that still need some work. (Gameplay only) Please note that these are simply thoughts on the gameplay, and not on dynasty and the like.
Play Action is still largely ineffective. I think that this is because the defenders react far too well and too quickly to the fake. The qb's fake animation also plays far too slowly. So, defense focus more on the rb, and qb get set to throw faster?
Going for the strip is still too little of a risk for the defense. We need to see more broken tackles out of strip attempts. Also, setting the pass rushing to aggressive is too extreme. tone down the offsides?
Swatting does not work very well, I find my players do better on aggressive pass D. There is not enough variety in the swat animations, and players are far too often out of place when the animation triggers.
I would suggest one more defensive adjustment in game. Add an option to choose whether defenders focus more on covering the inside or outside of the receivers. Perhaps have a version of this for the offense as well?
Overall, a quite solid game with several rough edges and one large flaw (play action). Looking forward to next year!
Edit: Maybe have more of the easily intercepted balls picked off, and less spectacular interceptions. Also, defense needs to play alot better off of tipped passes; would like to see alot more ints off of tips.
