Geez, does Notre Dame ALWAYS play in the Gator Bowl?

I think I saw a msg here a long time ago explaining the BCS rules and ND, but don't remember how long ago and I'm too lazy to search.

But it seems that whenever I pay attention to them in NCAA 2004, ND is ALWAYS in the Gator bowl. One season they were 11-1 and ranked #4 or something, in another they were 7-5. Is that b/c they were #1 in the "Independents Conference"???

After simming 10 seasons once, there were in the Gator Bowl against NC State 3 straight years TWICE !

Notre Dame has a contract with the Big East for the Gator Bowl. In short - one of the slots for the Gator Bowl either goes to the Big East #2 or to Notre Dame if they have a better or comparable overall record.

So - unless ND loses a bunch of games or makes it to a BCS Bowl, there is a good chance that they will go to the Gator Bowl.
