Getting QB to Slide?

So, occasionally my QB has to scramble when flushed out of the pocket, obviously. However, my question is how do I make sure he does the QB slide once he gets past the line of scrimmage? I have had a bunch of situations where I wanted the QB to slide and they do the normal dive animation and end up costing me a fumble because they hit a defender's leg or something and coughed up the ball.

Any help in making sure he always QB slides?

Re: Getting QB to Slide?

you just have to barely tap the X/Square button. I haven't had any issue with him diving instead myself(on 360).

Re: Getting QB to Slide?

Yup tap square. Hold down square for a normal dive with the QB

Re: Getting QB to Slide?

Thanks for the replies guys, yeah in all the years playing NCAA I've never thought about it that tapping instead of holding the dive button down made the difference in QB runs. Thanks for the help!

I don't see how you can never have thought about it, since it tells you half the time on the screen during the loading scene where it has coach's tips before you start every game.

QB slide and running the triple option tip be shown majority of the time.

Re: Getting QB to Slide?

On a sidenote, how ridiculous is the dive forward, lightly graze something, fumble the ball animation? I could understand if I am diving head first into traffic, but if I dive for the first down and my non ball carrying arm hits the leg of the defender, why am I just dropping the ball?

My favorite example of this actually happened to the computer. National Championship, Hawai'i (me) vs. Michigan State (CPU). I was up 2 TD with a few minutes to go in the game but they were driving down the field fast, got to the 10 and ran a perfect WR Mid Screen against a Cover 0 blitz (best CPU playcall I've seen, it was perfectly timed). The WR made the catch, was running into the end zone behind a block from his guard who blocked my FS, the CPU WR inexplicably dove for the end zone when I tried diving at him from behind, he lightly hit his offensive lineman at the goal line and fumbled the ball into the endzone, where my safety dove on it for a touchback to win the national title.

I mean, the guy was at the goal line, dove and fumbled. It was so close it would have been reviewed for a TD in real life and he just coughed it up. I was stunned.

Don't really pay attention at the loading screens? I don't have a real answer for you, just never did notice.
