Basically the title. They fixed the passing, which is great, but doesn't really mean much if when running the ball players still change direction without any foot planting. So. F-ing. Frustrating.

yea once again momentum and physics means absolutely diddly Squat!

Yes, this is a huge issue. If it was partially addressed, that would be great, but not to see it addressed at all (at least from what's been shown so far) is inexcusable.

Re: So, players are still running on a turntable?

Yes they are. This was never a problem in Madden/NCAA until the current generation consoles. I have no idea why they regressed when it comes to player movement. The major thing is that they dont really seem too concerned about it.

They've literally regressed back to how football games moved YEARS ago. Tecmo bowl, joe montana, 10 yard fight, even the 2k series before 2k5. Let me add that Madden/NCAA player movement was the first football game ever to go to the momentum and weight representation. They beat 2k out by a couple of years. You could actually feel the mass within the players.

It took 2k until 2k5 to catch up. I remember specifically when it was being talked about because there were consumers that were complaining about the turntable topsy turvy movement of the 2k series. They switched to full momentum/weight based play in 05. You know the rest with 2k.

Now, we have Tiburon actually remove their system (or however that works) and take us back more than a decade with player movement. How does that happen?

I'd be surprised if physics was touched before the change the the new generation consoles, but, I've been wrong before.

Re: So, players are still running on a turntable?

We saw several instances in the NCAA 13 gameplay webscast where DBs had to plant to change direction. Planting, right now, has nothing to do with procedural physics. It's about rate of the player and degree of change triggering a foot plant animation.

Things to keep in mind:

1) If a CPU has to see the ball to make a play, that means a DB with his back turned isn't going to instantly dart across the field to make a play on a WR.

2) With the new read and react, you're going to see DBs using back peddle more, playing more "off" technique. This is going to put some emphasis on timing.

There are degrees of movement completely missing from the movement of the analog to the player model this generation. Its glaringly obvious. The devs even admitted to doing this because of what some "focus group" told them.

There's any easy way for you to see this. I'll give you one small example.

1. Pop in Madden or NCAA 11 on PS2.
2. Take control of the FS before the snap
3. Slightly nudge the analog controller down to move towards the line

The FS will actually WALK up to the line of scrimmage. Now try the same thing with Madden/NCAA current gen and watch the outcome. The precision analog movement from last generation has been COMPLETELY removed.

Its switched to this herky jerky (for lack of better term lol) movement with chunks of degrees missing out of the analog movement in relation to how the player actually moves on field.

That doesn't mean too much if DB's can still back peddle just as fast as WR's in full sprint.
