Hmmmmm......I don't think I've ever seen a medical staff examin a player with a helmet on outside of potential neck injuries.

If an athlete is knocked unconscious from a head injury you ALWAYS assume they could have some type of spine/neck injury. Because of that you won't remove the helmet but you WILL check the eyes for Anisocoria (uneven pupils) which is a sign of a patient in critical condition.

I'm a certified athletic trainer and I do it all the time.
