One thing I never have quite understood is why people turn these features off.

Everyone agrees that in some cases auto strafe/sprint help and makes things easier

Everyone agrees that in some cases manual strafe/sprint makes things easier.

Why pick one or the other when you, by default, have BOTH?

Pressing R2 with auto-sprint/strafe turned on overrides the auto enabled status. If you are strafing and need to break out of it on the fly, just press R2 and you will sprint immediately, let go to return to strafing, which is WAY easier than manually strafing and manually sprinting. If you are running and auto sprint hasn't kicked in, just press R2 and, whammmmmy, you are sprinting. There is no need to turn it off, you can have the best of both worlds by design.

I personally hate auto sprint. I only use auto strafe. I dont feel like the players are running though when I use manual sprint. Ive been caught alot of times by slower players without an angle it seems like auto sprint is definatly supposed to be used and manual sprint is worthless.

The reason a lot of people , including myself, turn auto sprint off is that it is very noticeable whe it is on the CPU disengage from their blocks quicker and easier. It's been like this for the last few versions.
