Re: Is Play Action useless in this game?

Play action works fine for me. The only time I have trouble with it is when it says the play is "set up". I find 80% of the time my "set up" lays result in a pick or incompletion because the D follows my guys like they're glued together. I'm starting to think "set up" refers to me and not the other way around.

CPU. I don't play online much at all.

Re: Is Play Action useless in this game?

My entire passing game is play action in a couple of my offenses, I love it. The animations seem a bit quicker (plus you can cancel it early) and it usually causes the D to freeze if it is well set up. If you are having trouble with protection or getting blown up on blitzes, well, that's a risk. If someone is blitzing and you don't have the numbers to pick the blitzers up, you'll get sacked.

As someone else mentioned earlier, use slide protection, it works great this year because the tackle away from the direction you're sliding stays home. Also, don't be afraid to cancel the play action before the snap if you read a heavy blitz. Just hot route the HB to block and it will be a regular drop back pass.

Re: Is Play Action useless in this game?

I've abandoned the play action. I don't get sacked every time but 33% of the time I'm sacked before I leave the animation. There's no real benefit to it. I've run play action plays after rushing for over 200 yards with my running back & never fool the cpu. I think it's pointless if the cpu doesn't fall for it. I play on Heisman. Glad to see some are successful.

You may be using a "broken play"

I dont have that much of an issue with PA. That being said I am also a run heavy flexbone team.

But I do know some plays are a guaranteed sack. any PA Toss in the flexbone is useless. Some plays work better than others. But shifting the line does help with this as well.

Also the more bodies you have in the box the better chance you have of the PA not resulting in a sack.

Try and set up the play action by using the run that corresponds with the fake. If you get a good run then the play will work even more.

I love using PA. If I see the D has 6-7 in the box though, I'll audible out of it. Outside of that if I use it properly, I sometimes end up with a 60 yard bomb to a wide open WR.

Re: Is Play Action useless in this game?

Most definitely not useless. Just make sure you've set it up with plenty of runs. And then make sure you use a hard count before the snap to make sure they don't jump it. And then boom. Works probably about half the time, which is where it should be. I've completely confused the defense of the computers and real life players with PA so far. Flea flickers are for the win. And HB passes really throw them off guard if you like trickery, but they usually are awful passers haha.
