Cheese or Bad Football

One term I hate more than anything on this forum is cheese, or any variation of it. Cheese, to me, is only something that is a glitch. Anything else can be stopped if you take the time to do so. So many times I'll read something like "He did X all game and I couldn't stop it, CHEESE!!!!11!!11!" when all it would have taken was a simple adjustment. Getting beat deep, user the free safety. Burnt by runs, shift the defense, blitz that direction, control a linebacker. Certain route killing you, user a corner or safety or call a different defense. The point is nothing, in my opinion, is cheese unless it is a blatant glitch. Anyway feel free to discuss, disagree, or flame me and make outrageous claims or judgements about me, just share your opinion.

Re: Cheese or Bad Football

So gameplay taking advantage of flaws in the game is not cheese?

Nano Blitzing, 5 Wide/Goal Line Audibles, 4 Verts All Game, etc. Are caused by poor user play and not flaws in the game?

Nano Blitzing: Glitch only due to poor programming of blockers out of our control. Shotgun+max protect should help alleviate this.

5 Wide to goalline and vice versa I'm assuming: If you have the right personnel at the beginning of the play, should not be difficult. Receivers can not block well so all runs should be stuffed and most PA plays have a tight end block. If this is now a receiver vs a d-lineman plus no double team pass blocking equals easy pressure. Goalline to 5 Wide means no speed is out there and more than likely 2 max players that can catch. Zone blitzes are your friends.

4 Verts: User the free safety over the slot streaks, bump and run, and blitz. Those deep patterns take time to develop.

I did not say exploits do not exist. I said the term is often overused, and almost anything that isn't a direct exploit can be countered with good usering, tactics and strategy.

Re: Cheese or Bad Football

I'll just say this. I've beaten people who like to do stuff like running the 1-5-5 prowler set the whole game. It's not that it can't be stopped; it's that it isn't fun to play against someone who does that the whole game.

Re: Cheese or Bad Football

Cheesing is taking advantage of the limitations of the games engine. Whether that be a obvious glitch or using 4 verts at every snap or Nano blitzing or simply running your QB around in the backfield until a receiver is open.... so on and so forth.
