I don't disagree with you that it could definitely use improvement but I don't think it's quite as cut and dry as you have made it.
It might not be that cut and dry, but at least prevent defense makes infinitely more sense that what the current defense does.

Another end of the game problem is the CPU offense: Less than 5 seconds, final play, need a TD - its always a draw.
