In all seriousness, they should get rid of the standard helmet and facemask since no one uses them anyone more and just add the new stuff which is safer IRL. So why not promote safety?

Trust me, I know that

I always knew there were equipment junkies but never realized there were specific sub equipment groups ex: 'facemask guys' 'cleat guys' 'sock guys'.

I am not a huge equipment guy. However, there are so few player models in the game that equipment is the only way to individualize each player. I am all about improved gameplay, but when your team looks like a bunch of clones, it's kind of cool to separate them a part from one another.
