Re: Georgia Tech

I play with GT and here are a few of the things I hate that the CPU does to make the Triple Option tough.

1. TNT (Tackle-Nose-Tackle) alignment on my Guards and Center. My FB and/or QB get blown up before I even get to make the pitch read.
2. A 3-4 or 5-2 alignment with the pitch man on the LOS next to the read man. This really rushes my reads and limits big plays.
3. Run commit (L2 plus RS down) pre-snap. This will quicken the reaction time and get the safeties flying up. (You're busted if they pass though).

The CPU is usually run committing and showing the alignment I mentioned in #2 above. I reallly struggle badly against this and usually audible out of the option when I see it.

Re: Georgia Tech

Use a 44 defense, cover 1 usually works. Pinch the d-line and have them crash inside and control the safety. That takes away the fullback, linebackers have the quarterback and you have te running back. Gotta trust your corners to hold up. You gotta be in man though, if you blitz you won't stop them

Re: Georgia Tech

Does hot routing to QB spy help out against Tech? I could not believe how difficult it was to slow them down let alone stop them! It was amazing.

Re: Georgia Tech

Call a lot of different blitzes and get an early lead. I was able to hold them to 108 yards rushing all game using UNC mainly because I got up 17-7 and blitzed heavily on first and second down

GT holds the #1 spot in my 3rd Dynasty year right now. They are undefeated near the end of the regular season, and will need to clear the ACC Championship game. I noticed their HB is already sitting at 1700+ rushing yards.

For kicks, I scheduled another option, run-heavy team this season. The Navy Midshipmen were a solid B team, and gave me all I could stand. I edged them 34-27 for the win, but they ran up freaking 368 rushing yards on me! (63 rushes, 5.84 yds per rushing attempt avg.)

It hurt my pride a bit lol, but at the same time it was cool to see such a robust CPU running game. They only attempted 8 passes the entire game, and I don't blame them as I couldn't stop their rushing attack.

I think GT is rated in the mid 90's, so I can only imagine what kind of rushing juggernaut they are putting on display.

In my '13 Dynasty, I had moved GT back into the SEC, and they thrived, including winning a NC in year 10 of that dynasty. I had thought about bringing them back into the SEC in my '14 Dynasty, but I'm not sure I want to do that lol.

Re: Georgia Tech

Once again, they've gotten GT's offense wrong. In every sim 2013 dynasty, I see GT's HB go for well over 1000 yards and the FB get 20-30 carries. If you actually watch GT, they don't use a HB and FB, they have 2 ABs and a BB. The AB corresponds to the HB, and in real life is one of the primary receivers, but gets limited rushes (maybe 5-10 per game). The BB who corresponds to the FB is the real workhorse in that offense. However, the sim offense rarely gives to the BB, when the BB should be getting 200+ carries for the season. (see Jonathan Dwyer as an example)

One of the problems with the way things are set up is that even if EA coded the offense to give it to the BB as the primary ballcarrier, as the seasons wore on and GT continually recruited FBs for the position, their offense would fail miserably, since the FB recruits never really have the speed to be used as a regular rushing threat.

Until the AI gets smart with position changes and can recruit power HBs to convert to a FB/BB role, I don't know how to fix the problem, but getting the offense right would slow it down to a normal level as the ridiculously successful outside pitch to the HB would not show up as often.

Re: Georgia Tech

I played Georgia Tech in my online dynasty last night using UNC(on heisman). I won the game 42-7. GT wants to run, run and run more all game. They didnt attempt a pass until late in the 2nd qtr.

Their star player is their FB so pinch the line and crash them down to prevent the inside runs by the FB. They tried the option a few times but I shut it down early and they abandoned it. Stuff the run early and force the QB to pass. His accuracy is only 77 and if you send heat at him he will make mistakes.
