Georgia tech rarely runs up the middle. It works for me to spread out the defense try the 3-4 defense or 4-2-5. This gives almost no room for them to run to the outside. I hold them to 14 or less points a game.

Hope this helps!

Flat zones help too.

Vad Lee won the Heisman in 2014 in my dynasty.

When PLAYING spread option teams, I have nightmares. Jordan Lynch of Northern Illinois ran for 306 yards and 5 touchdowns against me, almost all of it in the second half. Marginal teams who run the option eat me alive. I use Western Michigan, but went into Boise State, Michigan and Notre Dame and won games, because they use little or no option.

This. The computer simming through the non-player games gives a definite edge to teams that run the option. At least two of GT, Navy, Air Force or Army are always top five by year 3 of my solo dynasties.

Re: Option teams too good

In my dynasty I noticed that Old Dominion has been in the top 5 the last few seasons....sure enough, run option team.

The sim definitely gives preference to the run option teams.

Maybe if we edit all coaches' philosophies slightly more to stopping the run it could get more balanced. Just a guess... I think the coaching philosophies are mainly responsible for the 'playcalling' on simmed games. If we tell all coaches to concentrate more on the run (maybe 5 or 10 percent) then the running game should be less effective in simmed games in theory.

Haven't tried it out, though...
