Re: Your best conference ideas?

I love how the game still has the Texas/Oklahoma game even if they're in separate conferences. It's fun, because some years they even play in bowl games (since I put Texas in the SEC and Oklahoma in the Big Ten). Then there are some odd rivalries...like Florida State and Maryland?

--American Athletic (The first year of the Big East)
Boston College
Miami
Pittsburgh
Rutgers
Syracuse
Temple
Virginia Tech
West Virginia

--ACC
Clemson
Duke
Georgia Tech
Maryland
NC State
North Carolina
Virginia
Wake Forest

--Big 12 (Is the Southwest Conference, made them the Big 12 so they would be linked to the Cotton Bowl)
Arkansas
Baylor
Houston
Rice
SMU
Texas
Texas A&M
TCU
Texas Tech

--Big Ten (When they actually had 10 teams)
Illinois
Indiana
Iowa
Michigan
Michigan State
Minnesota
Northwestern
Ohio State
Purdue
Wisconsin

--Independent (Teams that didn't exist back then are dumped here as well. They're the bold teams. Also the 1991 Big West teams are in here as well, as there are only 5 left)
Akron
Arkansas State
Army
Boise State
Buffalo
Cincinnati
Connecticut
East Carolina
Florida Atlantic
Florida International
Florida State
Fresno State (BW)
Georgia State
Idaho
Louisiana-Lafayette
Louisiana-Monroe
Louisiana Tech
Louisville
Marshall
Memphis
Middle Tennessee
Navy
New Mexico State (BW)
North Texas
Northern Illinois
Notre Dame
Old Dominion
Penn State
San Jose State (BW)
South Alabama
South Carolina
South Florida
Southern Miss
Texas State
Tulane
Tulsa
Troy
UAB
UCF
UMASS
UNLV (BW)
UTSA
Utah State (BW)
Western Kentucky

--MAC
Ball State
Bowling Green
Central Michigan
Eastern Michigan
Kent State
Miami (OH)
Ohio
Toledo
Western Michigan

--MWC (Is the old Big 8)
Colorado
Iowa State
Kansas
Kansas State
Missouri
Oklahoma
Oklahoma State
Nebraska

--Pac 12
Arizona
Arizona State
California
Oregon
Oregon State
Stanford
UCLA
USC
Washington
Washington State

--SEC
Alabama
Auburn
Florida
Georgia
Kentucky
LSU
Mississippi State
Ole Miss
Tennessee
Vanderbilt

--Sun Belt (Is actually the old WAC)
Air Force
BYU
Colorado State
Hawaii
New Mexico
San Diego State
Utah
UTEP
Wyoming

The problem with this alignment is that last year the game wouldn't advance past the conference championship week if at least one conference didn't have a title game. I would probably go ahead and add 3 teams to the MAC and let them be the only CCG. Anyway, this alignment would be fun I think because you'd have 8 (maybe 9 with the WAC) strong conferences with a lot of solid independents.
Just did this and it took two tries and a lot of time. First time I tried there were too many independents and C-USA was unused so I exited went to teambuilder and found the three big west teams and replaced Georgia State, South Alabama, and Texas State. You also left out Nevada so I moved them in the Big West and had to add a 13th MAC team cause there was one too many independents.

Re: Your best conference ideas?

All the teams in the Sunbelt Conf go Independent

The Sunbelt now becomes the old SWC with all those teams, including Arkansas and Houston. UCF is a new tenth team.

South Carolina goes to the ACC

The America Conference essentially becomes the Big East again. But with Penn State, West Virginia, Boston College ,Miami, Syracuse and Virginia Tech.
Cincinnati and Louisville go to the Big 12

Nebraska, Mizzou, Colorado, all go back to the Big 12

Most Mountain West teams go Independent.
Mountain West conference re-establishes the old WAC conference, with Utah and BYU, amongst others such as San Diego St, Utep Air Force etc.

Marshall goes back to the MAC, Northern Illinois and Ball State go Independent.

Basically in case I forgot someone. Every Conference is ten teams. No Championship games.
I tried to return everyone to their original Conferences with the exception of UCF, UC, and UL

Re: Your best conference ideas?

I wish I had thought of putting the old SWC in the Big 12 instead of the Sunbelt.
That's a great idea Jeremy!!
BTW, think about putting Penn State in your American Conference and South Carolina in your ACC.
Makes them both much tougher

Re: Your best conference ideas?

I created a better, improved American Conference.

I moved some notable schools from their respective conferences and place them in a east-west division with games played at night and the championship in Detroit.

Miami
FSU
Louisville
Cinn. Bearcats
Umass
SMU
Missouri
Temple

there are more, but currently playing a game against louisville with my created team, the university of chicago bears.

AAC (former Metro)
Louisville
Memphis
Cincinnati
Florida State

Virginia Tech
Tulane
Southern Mississippi
Georgia Tech

St. Louis is only school that doesn't have football.

Sun Belt Conference
South Florida
UAB
South Alabama
WKU
Louisiana Tech
Old Dominion
Georgia State

Virginia Commonwealth New Orleans, UA-Little Rock don't have football program while Jacksonville is in FCS. Charlotte is not in NCAA Football 14 either. You can use teambuilder for Charlotte and Jacksonville if you want to.

ACC including former Big East that will replace Va Tech, FSU and Georgia Tech.
South Division
North Carolina
North Carolina State
Duke
Wake Forest
Clemson
Miami
Virginia

North Division
Boston College
Connecticut
Pittsburgh
West Virginia
Syracuse

Maryland

CUSA (Former Southland and Southern)

West Division
Arkansas State
UL-Lafayette
UL-Monroe
North Texas
Texas State
UTSA

East Division
Troy
Marshall
East Carolina
Georgia Southern
Appalachian State
UCF

Technically, UCF was never part of Southern ,but they're part of ASC that Arkansas State used to be in.

Re: Your best conference ideas?

I started off by putting teams in their conferences based on the 2015 season with navy in the AAC and as time i went on if teams did well i moved them up to better conferences trying to keep it somewhat realistic.

I also moved the team i was currently coaching to one of the big 5 conferences that it fit best in. I was coaching Old Dominion in the Big 12 and won a National Championship so I left them there when I took a different job.

After 10 seasons I checked all the teams records and ended up moving Boise St, Fresno St and San Diego St to the Pac 12 and removed Washington St to make the Pac 12 a 14 team conference.

A few seasons later it is now the year 2028 and I am planning a few big changes. I always felt like Notre Dame belonged in the Big 10 and next off-season they will be moved there. The Big 12 will become the 5th conference to have 14 members with the addition of Nebraska and Houston (just won the NC) also BYU was moved there when I added ODU to keep it an even number of teams.

With recent news of UAB folding I am going to make them the only Independent team and send Army to the AAC so they can be with their Navy rivals.

So here is what my conference alignment looks like:

SEC
bama aub lsu olm mst a&m
mizz ga uf sc uky ten van

ACC
fsu clem lou wf bc cuse ncst
mia gt vt duke unc pitt va

B10
osu mich msu psu rut md nd
wisc in mn ill ia nw pur

PAC12
ore stn orst cal wa bsu frs
ucla arz asu usc utah col sdst

B12
tex ok okst tt hou neb byu
bay tcu ks ksu wv iast odu

AAC
ucf usf ecu ucon tem cin
mem smu tuls tuln navy army

MWC
wyo usu colst af id wast
sjst hi unlv nev nm nmst

MAC
noill emu cmu wmu kent tol
bg ball buf ohio miaoh akr umas

CUSA
fiu fau mars wky soms mdtn
utsa utep rice nt lout txst

SUN
troy ulm usa arkst gast ull

IND
uab

I still need to make final decisions on divisions within some of the conferences. I know the B10 east is pretty stacked but i just cant take the teams apart from each other and I am currently coaching Michigan State, they were in pretty bad shape when I took them over.
