The recruiting restrictions the service academies face are size and weight restrictions. Due to military standards the service academies can't recruit 6'6 320 pound linemen like the powerhouse teams. This results in them being really undersized in the trenches. Other restrictions are very strict academic standards, pro potential because of service commitment after college. no criminal record.Also no red shirting players.

With all these restrictions, the service academies have one recruiting pitch that pretty much no other schools can guarantee. A guaranteed job after college and to serve your country.
