Custom Conference Question - Stature?

Here is a question for some of you smart guys out there...


I have done some serious conference re-shuffling to base everything on Geography...

Ex.

Clemson and Georgia are now in the Sun Belt, Notre Dame and Ohio State are in the MAC, and all Louisiana schools are part of the SEC (this inc Lafayette, Monroe, etc)


What I am trying to grasp is if its the conference that makes the teams or the teams that make the conference....


Simply put, will the new SEC of:

Alabama
UAB
Arkansas
Auburn
South Alabama
Troy
LSU
Louisiana Tech
Louisiana Lafayette
Louisiana Monroe
Tulane
Ole Miss
Mississippi State
Southern Miss

Will it elevate the status of the lower tier teams over time or does this bring the conference to a lower stature? And will having schools like Georgia, GT, Clemson, Tennessee make the Sun Belt better?


I guess I was just wondering if anyone has any insight or has done work on this.

That status/grade of each conference is dependent on the current national rankings of the top 6 teams from that conference. The top six teams in each conference have their ranks averaged and that's the "score" of the conference. The conference with the highest average rank gets an A+ grade, second gets A, and etc

So basically you're saying its dynamic and will change on a year to year basis dependent on how top heavy the conference is....

It changes on a week to week basis, not year to year.

Even better....especially when offseason recruiting is only 1 week and such a crap shoot anyways....

I guess that means the trick to getting a bonus there is a bit of a trade-off because it involves being in a top heavy conference but that could also work against you because of the powerful teams and their recruiting prowess
