Here are some of the reasons I prefer playing NCAA on the PS2:
1. Having four shoulder buttons. The pitch button is on the black button on the Xbox controller makes it a pain to run the option.
2. The feel of the analog stick. The Xbox analog sticks are much, much better for most games, especially those with Halo's controls, but for EA Sports games, the PS2 analog sticks seem to give me a little bit better control.
3. Fewer graphic glitches. In the Xbox version, there are many instances where random footballs will fly across the screen, and other graphical oddities happen more often on the Xbox.
4. The game just feels better. Strange things seem to happen when I play the Xbox verison, like players pinballing off each other much more often. It just seems like EA puts a lot more effort into tuning and bug-fixing the PS2 version, as they should since it sells about 7-10 times as many copies.
5. Xbox Live support still isn't 100% confirmed. However, I'm sure it will be at E3. I'm so mad that my graduation falls on the same day as E3 Friday. Otherwise, I'd be in LA playing NCAA 2005 before most of you
Reasons why the Xbox version is better:
1. More animations. I see a few extra animations on the Xbox, most notable being the helmets popping off, but I seem to see a few other things that don't happen on the PS2 version.
2. Cleaner graphics. The PS2 version looks kinda muddy in comparison, especially the grass and the fans. The Xbox version just looks much, much cleaner, and it will look even better in 720p. I really, really hope that EA makes it truly widescreen so you can see sideline to sideline. It's criminal not to. Widescreen should enhance gameplay, not just make it look different!!!
3. Unlimited hard drive space. You can save a lot more franchises on the Xbox and you don't have to worry about memory cards becoming corrupt or any of that.
4. Slightly better sound. Not a big deal, though.
To sum it up, the Xbox version looks and sounds better, but the gameplay is slightly better on the PS2, and in the end, gameplay reigns supreme for me.
Other predictions: No custom soundtracks (has EA EVER done these???), Xbox Live support, and no true widescreen yet again.
