Re: Oddball recruits

Had a QB named Richard Lovelady. Just loved that name. He started too.

Re: Oddball recruits

I thought this thread was going to be about the prevalence of 6'5" safeties and 6'1", 220 lb DEs....or the 230lb speed backs and 180lb power backs.

LOL...I was thinking anticipating this as well.

Concerning the OP, I have had some of those names, yes. Also, some names of prominent psychologists as well as names of guys I went to high school with.

Re: Oddball recruits

Bill Madison is my starting running back right now as a redshirt senior.

He might have gotten more playing time earlier in his career, but I just couldn't take him seriously. In fact, he's still splitting time with 4 other backs because of that.

I also had a "Charles Charles" at HB when my coach took a HC position at North Texas.

Re: Oddball recruits

I saw UNLV land a commit from a skinny 5'10" white quarterback from Tampa, FL.

Named Warren Sapp.

And safety Martin Luther went to Notre Dame.

Re: Oddball recruits

I recruited a QB named Robert Roberts at Wake Forest. Left to take Maryland job. Four years later I faced the heisman winning Roberts in the title game and he beat the snot out of me
